In a way this ‘About Us’ page seems a little self-serving, but if I were considering doing business with someone I didn’t know, I’d like to know a little more about them, so allow me to fill you in on Prescott Links & Dave & Candy Rotering.
Dave & I are not realtors. We have been together 16 + years & have 5 kids between us, but only the 15 year old still at home. We are both nurses (no longer earning a living in that field) & private real estate investors/landlords who enjoy rehabbing properties. Our real estate experience started in 1992 with converting the lower level of our split level home into a ‘mother-in-law quarters’ & renting it out for enough to pay half the monthly mortgage. In 1994 we sold the house & moved into a new 2000 sq. ft. manufactured home. At the same time we purchased an old motel which as then called the Navajo Lodge. I worked 70 hours a week for 1 year straight & Dave worked every day off from the hospital until we had evicted the ’bad’ tenants, had the place cleaned, painted, repaired & done some remodeling that created 2 more units. We changed the name to the CC Inn & the little place developed a nice cash flow with a much improve reputation.
When most of the kids had moved out, we realized our house could be working for us. We then created another ‘mother-in-law quarters’ which we rented out & again paid half our mortgage payment. In 1997, one of our sons had a near death accident in Mexico. (Here’s a little bit about that experience.) His injuries required tons of nursing care. After a while, we decided it was time to sell the motel. We carried a 2nd mortgage on the place. Within 2.5 years we took it back. The new owners had let the place fall into disrepair, many tenants were selling drugs &/or not paying rent. So we set to work again, cleaning, painting, cleaning, evicting, repairing, cleaning & changed the name again to the Sheldon St. Lodge. The little cash cow was up & running again. After 3 years we sold it again, but this time to good buyers.
The wife of the couple had managed the place when we owned it the 1st time, so she knew what the project involved!

Since then we have rehabbed & sold a few manufactured homes affixed to the lots & a couple houses. We are having a ball. In one instance we were going to demolish & replace an older single wide when we were approached by a couple with 7 kids who had been down on their luck. They asked if they could buy it as a 'rent to buy' deal & offered us a sale price that would have given us the same profit as if we had replaced it. They are in 7th heaven & we are pleased not only to make some money, but to be honest, it felt good to see these folks happy with a place of their own.
So this is what we are about. If we can make money, we defiantly won't complain. But if we can make money & it helps someone else out, we are happier that way.
